On July 3, 2020, in the premises of the Supreme State Audit was presented the new Chairman of ALSAI, Mr. Arben Shehu, whose candidacy was approved with 108 votes in favor, in the plenary session of the Albanian Parliament of 2 July 2020.
The presentation of the new Chairman was attended by Ms. Milva Ekonomi, Chairwoman of the Committee on Economy and Finance, Mr. Bujar Leskaj, Former Chairman of ALSAI, Mr. Genc Gjonçaj, Secretary General of the Assembly of Albania and Mrs. Alkida Llakaj, Director of the Monitoring Service of Institutions in the Assembly of Albania.
Ms. Milva Ekonomi praised the work and positive changes in the Supreme State Audit and especially the professional evolution of the institution, which in its work has increasingly relied on the International Standards of Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAIs).
Ms. Ekonomi praised the successful career of Mr. Arben Shehu and the approval with 108 votes of this candidacy by the Albanian Parliament and wished her success in her new position as Head of the ALSAI, as one of the most important constitutional institutions. Mrs. Ekonomi also wished success to Mr. Bujar Leskaj in his further career.
Mr. Genc Gjonçaj made a summary of the CV of the Chairman Dr. Arben Shehu, focusing especially on his academic career and evaluating his rich CV and in full compliance with the criteria to be met by the Chairman of ALSAI.
Mr. Bujar Leskaj, after thanking the staff for the joint work in the last eight years, expressed confidence that Dr. Arben Shehu will perform very well as Chairman of ALSAI based on three pillars: integrity, professionalism and independence.
The Chairman Mr. Arben Shehu thanked Mr. Leskaj and the staff for the presence and assured that ALSAI, as an institution will continue to work based on Professional Standards and under the commitment of Mr. Arben Shehu will be for the work of the institution to move forward, supporting always in the professional work and with the standards of the ALSAI auditors.
